WHAT A PERFECT RACE DAY!
I COULD NOT HAVE ASKED FOR BETTER.
Just being an ordinary MOM taking up this challenge, WEIGHED HEAVILY ON MY SHOULDERS.
Coming from being a couch potato until my 40th birthday.
I did attempt the Buffalo City 70.3 in January. But did not make the bike cut off.
WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT!
I arrived back home and immediately entered Durban 70.3
But I needed a new plan…
That’s when I decided to join Team Tissink.
Natalie kept me on my toes ( a red block on your profile is embarrassing )
It was a challenge (being ME), but this kept me on track
With 6 weeks to go to race day I fell very ill ( training in the rain… because ” I am TOUGH”}
Every day that passed I FELT THE RACE SLIPPING AWAY…
With three weeks to go I eventually got back on the road.
Coach just said:” give it your best effort and you will be fine”.
Arriving in DURBAN, I just had a good feeling every step of the way.
A commentator at bike check in, remembered me from the name on my t-shirt as not making the cut-off last year, and reminded me that I had to set the record straight.
I met Team Tissink for a great swim on Saturday, with all my fellow triathletes/friends rooting for me, and the BEST husband ever, always supporting me.
This had to be a good race!
Natalie said….enjoy the day out….and I did!!!!
No brilliant times. But goals were met and the race was mine!
ALWAYS MEETING WONDERFUL PEOPLE ALONG THE WAY!
Thank you team!
See you in august! @Bela Bela 5150
